RM250 fine for not separating waste

GEORGE TOWN: Penang will proceed to fine any household RM250 if its occupants still fail to separate waste by June 1, after the grace period given over the past year.

The same fine will also be levied on recycling agents who have yet to apply for the recyclable items collection licence, said Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Urban Services Department director Mubarak Junus, as he underlined Penang’s determination to get households and businesses to segregate their waste to facilitate recycling.
