Sarawak elderly man found alive after a week lost in jungle

MIRI: A 69 year-old man was found alive Friday after he was reported lost for the past week in a dense jungle in Julau district in central Sarawak.

Tan anak Rayong had survived on frogs and jungle ferns since he went missing on May 19.

Tan, from Rumah Berenai Batu 16 in Julau district, was rescued at about noon by Fire and Rescue personnel and police.

He went missing after wandering into the jungles near his longhouse. Tan was found 6km away in a weak condition.

He told his rescuers that he ate frogs and jungle ferns to survive.
