Islanders live in fear after crocodile attack


Stealth predator: Authorities are now mulling proposals to capture the crocodiles and confine the reptiles to wildlife parks.

KOTA KINABALU: A saltwater crocodile attack on a villager is sparking fear among residents of the northernmost Banggi and Balam­bangan islands because sightings of the reptile are beco­ming more frequent.

The man was collecting cockles at Pulau Balambangan last week when the attack occurred, said Banggi assemblyman Datuk Abdul Mijul Unaini.
