BUTTERWORTH: A 17-year-old school dropout and two men were arrested with more than 13kg of heroin worth over RM330,000 in Bagan Ajam and Teluk Air Tawar here.

OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Adam said a team from the Narcotic Crime Investigation Unit first raided a hotel in Bagan Ajam and arrested a man, 31, together with the school dropout at 12.30pm on Friday.

“Heroin weighing 510gm and 37gm of syabu were recovered with their arrest.

“The team managed to track down their 28-year-old accom-plice while he was driving in Taman Senangan, Teluk Ayer Tawar, at 2pm.

“Inside the car, they found more than 12.5kg of heroin and he was also arrested,” he told a press conference yesterday.

ACP Azmi said investigations showed that the two arrested earlier were drug pushers while the other was their supplier.

He added that they were all from the same syndicate.

“The suspects were found to possess past criminal records relating to drugs and one of them had nine past records.

“They have since been remanded until Friday pending investigations into the case which has been classified as trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a mandatory death sentence if convicted,” he said.

On a separate development, ACP Azmi said the district police also arrested 90 people for drug-related offences so far this year.

“Action was taken against 11 of them under the Special Preventive Measures,” he said.
