Nyonya vase sells for RM27,000 at auction


Sumptuous artefacts: Visitors and bidders looking at the rare Nyonya beaded vases at the Straits Chinese Antique Auction, held at the State Chinese (Penang) Association in Perak Road.

GEORGE TOWN: A rare 26cm Nyonya beaded vase produced by artisans during the mid-20th century fetched more than five times its indicative price at an auction here.

The starting bid for the vase, which features a motif of flowers and birds carefully assembled using thousands of colourful beads, was RM5,000.
