Six plead not guilty to possessing kratom

KANGAR: Five Malaysian men and a Thai national pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here to charges of possessing 990kg of kratom (daun ketum).

Ramdan Yahaya, 25, Wan Moha­mad Firdaus Wan Zawawi, Muham­mad Hafiz Md Zain, 19, Mohd Hakim Yaacob, 29, and Nor Hasham Mohd Najib, 30, along with Thai man Teeraphong Rongphon were charged with possessing kratom without permission under Sections 8 to 12 of the Poison Act 1952.
