SIBU: Family members of media and timber tycoon Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King say he “is in good health and strong”.

Tiong, 82, who is the executive chairman of Rimbunan Hijau Group of Companies, was admitted to a hospital in Singapore last Thursday following a stroke.

He was said to have fainted in his home.

In a statement yesterday, Tiong’s family members asked for the people to pray with them for his health.

“Tan Sri is a great man of God who has contributed tremendously to the media and education, not only locally but also worldwide.

“He has spoken up fairly and righteously on many occasions, and through the media, and he has created many job opportunities and contributed to many worthy causes with unconditional love,” said the statement.

It is understood that Tiong’s family members, including top management of the company, are now in Singapore to be with him.

Tiong is listed by Forbes as one of the richest Malaysians, with a net worth of up to RM9bil.
