KOTA KINABALU: Australia is forever indebted to the villagers of Sabah for help rendered to prisoners of war (PoW) during a World War II death march, said Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia Rod Smith.
He said during the war, many soldiers, including more than 2,000 Australians, were forced to make the death march from Sandakan to Ranau by the Japanese military.
