Crowded: Office lots turn into student dormitories for rent.

MALACCA: An office block where commercial lots have been converted into hostels here is a firetrap, said Malacca Historic City Council (MBMB) publicity officer Ricky Tan.

He said the owners of the commercial lots, which are in an office block near a higher education institution at Plaza Pandan Malim, had disregarded safety in converting their property into hostel dormitories and renting them out to students.
