Klang man arrested for insulting govt leader

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man in Klang for insulting a government leader.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said the 48-year-old man was arrested at around 3.15am Monday.

"We received a report five days ago after a man saw a message on WhatsApp.

"The message showed a man wearing a yellow Bersih T-shirt holding a placard which had Chinese words on it which insulted a government leader," he said.

ACP Mohd Sukri said during questioning, the suspect admitted using his mobile phone to make viral a post to insult the Government.

"We seized the suspect's mobile phone and sim card when we arrested the suspect.

"The suspect has been remanded for four days to help with investigations," he said, adding that police were investigating the case under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act.
