Looking back for the future

Zaba spirit: Dr Omar Farouk (second from right) with Zabahans (from left) Dr Mohamed Ezani, Azhar Harun and Anas. He created a open, moderate environment in the college that was conducive for personal growth and leadership.

No relation to our eastern state, the Zabahans are a loose collective made up of some 170 former Universiti Malaya students who stayed in Zaba College, or the 7th Residential College, from 1982 to 1990 under the supervision of housemaster Dr Omar Farouk Sheikh Ahmad.
