PETALING JAYA: Police have picked up three of the men who attacked three policemen in Bangsar near here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Shahrul Othman confirmed that the suspects, aged between 24 and 26, have been arrested.

The policemen were at the Jalan Telawi area at about 4.30am on Saturday when an unidentified man approached them and started a ruckus.

Sources said he started shouting at the policemen and was later joined by about 10 men armed with sticks and bottles. It is believed that the man was drunk at the time.

“One of the men was heard saying ‘berani u kacau 36’ (you dare to mess with 36),” said the source.

Gang 36 is a known criminal organisation.

The three identified themselves as policemen, but were still attacked. The attackers only stopped after one of the policemen drew his firearm.

One of the policemen required at least 30 stitches to his head.
