K’tan to get tough with those transporting poultry illegally

KOTA BARU: Those caught transporting poultry without permit risk being fined up to RM15,000 and jailed two years, authorities warned in the wake of the H5N1 viral outbreak in Kelantan.

State Veterinary Services Deparment (DVS) enforcement chief Ismail Che Ali said they must come down hard on the culprits in order to protect humans as well as the industry against the highly pathogenic avian influenza.
