Be strict when conferring titles, states urged


PETALING JAYA: A member of the State Royal Council (MPN) of Kelantan has called on all states to make it more stringent before Datuk titles are awarded.

“The Kelantan government recently tightened the law against imposters and syndicates duping the public, by making it a criminal offence for anyone to use a Datuk title when they were never conferred the award by the Ruler,” said Datuk Shukri Mohamed, who is a lawyer.
