AT LEAST 300,000 people, who earn more than RM5,000 a month each, apply for BR1M each year, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said.
Only those with a household income of RM3,000 a month were eligible for BR1M but the ministry found 260,000 applicants applying for the government aid despite having an RM5,000 salary, he said.
