RAUB: Barisan Nasional needs to work hard to win the Tanjong Datu by-election as there is no short cut to victory, says Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

He said everyone in Barisan’s election machinery should do their best to help the coalition woo voters and ensure a big win.

“Do not take this lightly as we have to work hard as usual, as like in any other previous elections and by-elections that we have gone through.

“We need to go to the ground and convey our campaign message to the people effectively,” Hishammuddin said after attending the wedding ceremony of Pahang state executive councillor Datuk Seri Shahiruddin Ab Moin’s son Muhammad Safwan, in Simpang Kallang here yesterday.

The ceremony was attended by Pahang Regent Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, his wife Tengku Puan Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar and Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Among those present were Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Hishammuddin said Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s widow, Puan Sri Jamilah Anu was the right choice to retain his seat as she was close to the voters in the area.
