Former Tabung Haji associate CEO charged with CBT

KUALA LUMPUR: A former chief executive officer of a government-linked company (GLC), an associate of Tabung Haji, was charged in a Sessions Court here Thursday with five counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) totalling RM2.57mil.

Datuk Nor Badli Munawir Mohamad Alias Lafti, 50, was charged with using his position in TH Heavy Engineering Bhd to allegedly commit CBT via five cheques worth RM400,000, RM570,000, RM430,000, RM600,000 and RM575,800.

Nor Badli allegedly committed the offence at THHE Fabricators Sdn Bhd’s office, Level 23, Tower B, Menara UOA in Bangsar here between April and October 2013.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Public Prosecutor S. Thangavelu offered bail at RM2.5mil.

Counsel Kitson Foong, who acted for Nor Badli, asked for RM200,000 bail.

However, Judge Madihah Harullah fixed RM400,000 bail pending mention on March 15.

She also ordered Nor Badli to surrender his passport.
