ACTRESS Fathia Latiff (pic), who was embroiled in a social media controversy after complaining that a flight attendant did not help her with her bags, has told Berita Harian her side of the story.

The 29-year-old Ariana Rose actress admitted to being affronted by the flight attendant who declined to help put her bags in the overhead compartment because she had a backache.

At the time, Fathia said she and her personal assistant had their hands full with flowers and hampers from fans she met at a sponsored event in Johor Baru. She explained she didn’t check in the items because they were fragile and she did not want to offend her fans.

“I asked her nicely but I felt agitated by her response. I tweeted a picture of the flight attendant with advice to rest if she did not feel well,” she said, adding that she deleted the post soon after it was posted, not expecting it to go viral.

Fathia said she regrets her actions and has issued an apology to the flight attendant.

> Frustrated at seeing his home furniture ruined after every flood, 45-year-old Mat Kasim Mat Sajak decided to build some of his own.

“Who doesn’t want to have nice things but we can’t afford to replace all the furniture every time it floods. To save on cost, we need to think of other alternatives,” the excavator operator told Harian Metro.

Mat Kasim uses hardwood, plywood and bricks to create and modify his furniture to be flood-proof.

His beds are made higher than usual and he uses the bricks to raise existing shelves to place electrical appliances so they don’t get damaged in the flood.
