SHAH ALAM: Parti Amanah Rakyat president Mohamad Sabu (pic) has called on his party members to stop the "politics of patronage" that has become cancerous in national politics.
Mohamad, or popularly known as Mat Sabu, said the culture of "politik dedak" has plagued political parties especially those in power at the Federal and state levels and this was slowly destroying the country.
Mat Sabu was speaking at the Amanah national convention, which was attended by supporters from Pakatan coalition partners PKR and DAP.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad attended the event with his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamed Ali.
Also present were PKR vice-presidents Rafizi Ramli and Nurul Izzah Anwar, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah, activist Hishammuddin Rais, Parti Socialis Malaysia chairman Dr Nasir Hashim, national literature laureate A. Samad Said and Salor assemblyman Datuk Husam Musa.
