Penang police seal off road to investigate shooting

GEORGE TOWN: Police have sealed off a stretch of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway heading to the Penang Bridge since 10.50am Wednesday to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred last Thursday.

Several traffic policemen were seen setting up plastic barriers, yellow tape and diverting traffic to Jalan Ahmad Nor in Jelutong.

George Town OCPD Mior Faridalathrash Wahid had said that the stretch heading towards the bridge from George Town would be closed from the entrance to the flyover near the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway-Jalan Ahmad Nor junction until 2pm, while the turnoff to the bridge would be closed until 5pm Wednesday.

Heavy traffic were spotted at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway-Jalan Ahmad Nor junction at 11.10am.

Road users heading to the bridge and Bayan Lepas were diverted to Jalan Ahmad Nor before heading to their destination via Jelutong and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.

At the crime scene, several forensic policemen were seen sticking papers bearing vehicle number plates of the victims on the plastic cones and placing them at different spots at the scene.

Police also put up yellow tape along some sections of the bicycle lanes located beside the expressway.

Sources said that the forensic police were conducting scene analysis using 3D laser scanning.

A sniffer dog was also seen combing the crime scene for clues.
