GEORGE TOWN: A stretch of Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway heading to the Penang Bridge will be closed to traffic from 10.30am to 5pm tomorrow for police to carry out forensic investigation into the fatal shooting case that occurred last Thursday.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the stretch heading towards the bridge from George Town would be closed from the entrance to the flyover near the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu-Jalan Ahmad Nor junction from 10.30am to 2pm while the turnoff to the bridge would be closed until 5pm.

He said traffic would be diverted into Jalan Ahmad Nor for road users heading to the bridge and Bayan Lepas to continue their journey via Jelutong and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.

Those who wish to go to the bridge should take the turnoff in Batu Uban after the Youth and Sports Complex.

ACP Mior Faridalathrash said those using the Udini underpass from Jalan Mesjid Negri would be diverted to the turnoff on the left after the underpass.

He said those living at the Light Condominium should use the Gelugor roundabout or the underpass.

He urged the public to use the ferry service or Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge to go to the mainland, adding that motorists should plan their journey ahead and follow the instructions of police on duty.
