Loyal to Barisan: Members of myPPP singing their party song at the myPPP 63rd annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has urged the people not to be fooled by the Opposition’s tactics of illusion, lies and half-truths.

He said that during the Umno general assembly, a video clip of PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli was shown to the delegates.

“I showed the video of YB Rafizi saying that the job of the Opposition is to instigate and incite. It’s on the video.

“How do you answer to that? The Opposition knows that if you cannot convince the people, let’s confuse them.

“This is what they do on any issue, they try to confuse you,” he said when opening the 63rd myPPP annual general assembly yesterday.

Najib said the negativity stemming from this politics of hatred and fanned by the Opposition had apparently backfired, as it has created internal rifts and sown distrust within their own parties.

The Opposition could not even decide on a candidate for prime minister among themselves, he said.

The Prime Minister challenged the Opposition to lay out their plans to prove that they could offer a better alternative to the Barisan Nasional-led government.

Stressing that no government was perfect, Najib said Barisan still has a proven track record and has always been focused on serving all Malaysians.

“Despite strong external challenges, with depreciating oil prices that caused us a RM30bil loss in revenue, we still managed to achieve a 4.3% growth in the third quarter,” he added.

Najib also acknowledged that myPPP had always remained loyal to the Barisan.

Tan Sri M. Kayveas, who is the myPPP president, said the party would let the Barisan leadership decide if it would get any seat to contest in the next general election.

“Under a new system, Barisan component parties need to return all seats to Barisan.

“There is no fixed seat. The top leadership will then decide,” he said.

Kayveas’ party contested one parliamentary and four state seats in the 2013 general election, and lost.
