Datuk's bodyguard held over Penang expressway shooting

GEORGE TOWN: The suspect who fired the shots that killed a Datuk and two other people on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway has been arrested.

Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainol Samah said the shooter was the personal bodyguard of the Datuk and was travelling with him in his car.

"Another passenger in the car tried to escape on foot, but the suspect continued firing shots at him," he told a press conference Thursday night.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed the Datuk as Ong Teik Kwong, 32.

SAC Zainol said police are still investigating the motive for the shooting.

Four other people were injured in the shooting.

RTM cameraman Muhamad Amirul Amin Amir was also hit in the chest when he passed by the area on his motorcycle.
