Elderly woman stabbed by robber

TASEK GELUGOR: A 75-year-old woman was stabbed in the abdomen by a robber who broke into her house in Kampung Jarak Atas here.

Robiah Taib and her female friend, 39, who was visiting her, were sleeping in the bedroom when they were awakened by the masked robber at about 1.45am yesterday.

Both of them put up a fight and were injured. The robber managed to grab the older woman’s handbag before fleeing.

Her friend was also injured after being slashed on the arm.

They alerted a neighbour of the incident and he brought them to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment.

Robiah has been staying alone since her husband died two years ago.

OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Adam confirmed the incident and said the case was being investigated as armed robbery under Section 397 of the Penal Code.
