KUALA KANGSAR: Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (pic) has called Bersih supporters “legally stupid” because they do not understand the law.

Nazri said these supporters and bloggers had questioned the arrest of Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) when she was not a terrorist.

“Please check your facts first. Who said she is a terrorist?

“Because a terrorist will be arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota) and not Sosma.

“She is arrested under Sosma for the police to carry out investigation over activities that she may be involved in, which are detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

“All the Yellow Shirts (Bersih supporters) are stupid as they don’t understand the law.

“They are legally stupid,” Nazri told reporters after launching a Kraf Kampungku project here yesterday.

Nazri said any dispute over Maria’s arrest should go through the proper process of law.

“Let the court of law decide but here, the Yellow Shirts want to become prosecutors as well as the judge,” said Nazri.

“If anyone wants to bring the Government down, then the right way should be during the general election and not by having street rallies.

“There can be many Bersih rallies but that will not bring the Government down,” Nazri added to the media.
