PETALING JAYA: Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah's detention under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) "cannot be justified" and she must be released immediately, said Malaysian Bar president Steven Thiru.
Maria was arrested and detained under Section 124C of the Penal Code for the offence of attempting to commit activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy because Bersih allegedly received funds from the Open Society Foundation (OSF) on Nov 18.
