KUALA LUMPUR: Those detained over the Bersih 5 rally, including under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma), are free to challenge their charges in court, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Defending the actions of the authorities, he said the decision to detain those involved in the demonstrations was made solely by the police while the move to press charges was the prerogative of the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
