KUALA LUMPUR: Bersih supporters marching from Bangsar have been brought to a halt on Jalan Bangsar.
Former Bersih chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan said they will sit and remain on the road until all their activities have finished.
"They have blocked everything, we can't march to Dataran Merdeka. So now we will continue our activities here."
She added that the march has already been a success.
"We have succeeded because we have not given into any intimidation. And all the intimidation has done is to make people more angry."
Ambiga added that what is happening this Saturday will give people hope.
"Today, people have shown us that this country is worth fighting for and people are willing to fight for it."
It had been reported earlier that Bersih 5 participants marching towards Dataran Merdeka will come face to face with a Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) barricade on Jalan Bangsar.
FRU personnel were seen linking arms at the barricade, and a water cannon was also spotted.
