KOTA KINABALU: Eight top Abu Sayyaf leaders are among 23 Filipinos wanted for cross-border kidnappings in Sabah’s east coast.

Among the top leaders are Apo Mike @ Majan Sahidjuan, Hatib Hajan, Alden Badge, Alhabsy Misaya, Marajan Asiri, Muaamar Askali @ Abu Rami, Idang Susukan and Raden Abuh.

Alden Badge @ Sayning (Shinning) – believed to be involved in the beheading of Sarawakian Bernard Then, 39, on Nov 17, 2015 – was also among the names listed by Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom). Esscom made public the latest names and pictures of the wanted men yesterday.

Among the top leaders behind the kidnappings but based in Jolo were Apo Mike, Alhabsy Misaya and Idang Susukan who were key players who held hostages and negotiated for the ransom.

However, Esscom retained among the wanted the names of the notorious Muktadir brothers, five of whom were already dead, and another in jail in the Philippines. This is because they have yet to be officially informed of their deaths.

The others on the list are believed to be part of the gang members that slipped into Sabah’s east coast for criminal activities.

Esscom Commander Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said all 23 were wanted for suspected involvement in cross-border kidnappings in Sabah.

“We need them to assist our investigations into the cross-border kidnapping cases,” he said, adding that there had been no official communications on the reported deaths of the Muktadir brothers.

He urged those who spot the individuals within the state to immediately alert the authorities.

He said they can call Esscom operations centre 089-863 181 or through WhatsApp at 013-880 3585 or 019-230 5909.

Then was snatched from the Ocean King Seafood Restaurant in Sandakan along with its manageress Thien Nyuk Fun by Filipino gunmen on May 13, 2015.

Thien was released safely on Nov 8 while Then was beheaded by the Abu Sayyaf captors in Jolo after ransom negotiations collapsed.
