Movida bombing case transferred to High Court

PETALING JAYA: The case involving two men charged with committing a terrorist act by bombing Movida entertainment outlet in Puchong has been transferred to the Shah Alam High Court.

Magistrate Zaki Asraf Zubir made the decision after Deputy Public Prosecutor Fazeedah Faik informed the court that the prosecution has obtained the consent to transfer the case to the higher court.

Unemployed Imam Wahyudin Karjono, 20, and factory operator Jonius Ondie @ Jahali, 24, were jointly charged with committing the act by throwing a hand grenade and causing injuries to eight people.

The offence was committed with the intent to further an ideology and was meant to threaten the public.

Both were said to have committed the offence at Movida Boulevard Sdn Bhd, an entertainment outlet at the ground floor of IOI Boulevard at Jalan Kenari 5 in Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong, at about 2am on June 28.

DPP Fazeedah added that the prosecution was awaiting permission to transfer another charge faced by Imam to the High Court.

Imam was charged with knowingly supporting the commission of a terrorist act by using an explosive via his Telegram app at Blok Cempaka in Jalan Indah 1 in Puchong between March 25 and June 28.
