KULAI: The Johor government fully supports the stand of Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in not allowing any kind of street demonstrations in the state.

Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the people should take the ruler’s advice seriously as Sultan Ibrahim cares about unity among the rakyat as well as peace and harmony in Johor.

“Muafakat Johor (United Johor) is not a new slogan so the rakyat should maintain the harmony by accepting Sultan Ibrahim’s advice, especially when such demonstrations will only disturb public order and create divisions among the people,” he said.

“If there are people who are not satisfied with the government, they should use the right way to voice out their dissatisfaction, instead of causing chaos that could disturb the peace,” he told reporters after launching the state-level landscape day at Hutan Bandar Putra here yesterday.

During the Himpunan Bangsa Johor in Pasir Gudang on Thursday, Sultan Ibrahim said he would not allow street demonstrations in the state as they disturb public order and divide the rakyat.

The Johor Ruler also urged non-governmental organisations in the state as well as Bangsa Johor not to take part in such events.

On another matter, Mohamed Khaled said the maintenance and upgrading of Hospital Sultanah Aminah, where six patients died in a fire on Oct 25, would be decided by the Federal Government.

“There should be a study done before any maintenance work at one of Johor’s unique buildings. It should also be upgraded to ensure such incidents do not recur,” he said.
