Machete attacker shot dead by cops 

PETALING JAYA: A 34-year-old man was killed when he tried to attack the police with a machete.

Police were responding to an assault report lodged against the suspect for attacking two men in Kajang when the incident occurred

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Othman Nanyan said the suspect came out and punched one of the policemen.

“He then went back in and returned with a machete. Despite warnings, he kept charging at the policemen.

Search still on for missing Aussie

MIRI: Search and rescue efforts are continuing for Australian engineer Gaskell Andrew James, 26, missing at the Mulu National Park since Oct 20.

Marudi Fire and Rescue Department chief Zulbada Alior said with the manpower increased to 34 from 22, the operation which entered its third day yesterday had been divided into three groups, covering Lagang Cave, Moon Milk Cave, Stonehouse Cave and Mulu Summit. — Bernama

Fire destroys workers’ hostel

PETALING JAYA: A Nepalese worker’s hope of surprising his daughter with a teddy bear on her birthday was dashed when his home was gutted in a fire.

Besides Prem, 39 other people were staying at the shophouse, which served as a hostel for Nepali workers. — Bernama
