Tailors rushing to meet demand for patiala suits

In demand: Tailor G. Solaimuthu of Sri Moli Trading and Tailoring showing a ‘patiala’ suit (right) and and ‘anarkali’ suit in the shop at China Street, in Little India, Penang.

GEORGE TOWN: Tailors in Little India here are working long hours to put together their stitches in time for Deepavali.

A check at most of the tailoring shops in the enclave showed that customers were putting in orders for patiala suits, which were popular in the 1960s and early 1970s.
