GEORGE TOWN: A section of the Vale of Tempe road was cordoned off after large cracks appeared along a stretch of the road.

The cracks measuring about 200m long were on the stretch near Reservoir Road heading towards George Town.

Traffic came to a standstill after motorists were forced to slow down along the stretch in the afternoon.

State Public Works Department director Salleh Awang when contacted said he was on the way to visit the site.

“I will not be able to comment until I have seen the cracks along the stretch,” said Salleh.

State Public Works, Utilities and Transportation Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng could not be reached for comment.
