KUALA LUMPUR: Umno must shift gears from being defensive and go on the offensive, said party information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
The decision was made, he said, during a meeting with Umno state information chiefs at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
He said the battle against negative perception against the Government and Umno must be fought not only at the top but at the grassroots level.
Starting Friday, he said, a series of roadshows would start and be held in different states continuously and be intensified at the branch level.
“We feel there is nothing we cannot explain to the people,” he said.
Umno, he said, was concerned over the negative perception which did not reflect the truth.
Annuar said the Umno machinery at all levels must move with confidence to spread the message and policies of the party.
This move, he said, must be extended to Barisan Nasional.
“After the Umno roadshows, we will have joint programmes with Barisan parties,” he said.
