Setting a record: Guests at the ‘Jeans for Genes Malaysia 2016’ campaign playing their role in forming the DNA double helix.
PETALING JAYA: A 531m-long DNA double helix structure formed out of over 1,000 pairs of jeans has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR). It was created by Universiti Malaya (UM) students at the “Jeans for Genes Malaysia 2016” campaign.
The annual campaign that started six years ago aims to increase awareness of genetic disorders, especially those affecting children, and also to raise funds for patients afflicted with the disorder.
