GEORGE TOWN: For the fourth time this year, tourists waiting for their turn to parasail in Batu Ferringhi found themselves in yet another high drama.

This time, a couple got caught among the pine trees nearly 20m above ground along the popular beach. The incident took place at about 6.30pm yesterday.

The operators, locally called beach boys, used a tractor to help bring down the unidentified couple within 30 minutes. The couple were not injured.

Apparently, the parasailers, who were Singaporeans, got caught in the tree during take-off.

“They didn’t understand the instructions,” said a beach boy who declined to be named.

“They pulled on the left para-cord and the parasail veered into the treeline as soon as they were in the air.”

In February, two Jordanians injured their spines after falling 8m to the ground during landing. About a week later, another Middle Eastern man got caught in a flagpole.

Last month, two Japanese tourists were trapped in a tree for 40 minutes as they waited to be rescued following a failed landing.
