ALOR SETAR: Three crewmen were injured while another was reported missing in a luxury boat fire following an explosion in mid-sea near Muka Head off Penang.

The luxury boat left a yacht club in Langkawi at 7pm Thursday heading to Singapore.

It is believed that a fire broke out at the engine section before the explosion. The boat M/UN1K capsized after the blast before Friday midnight.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) received a satellite distress signal from the boat at about 12.05am Friday. A vessel was dispatched to the scene.

The three injured crews were, however, rescued by a local fishing vessel while they were drifting in a life raft at about 3am.
