Proton Perdana for Olympic gold winner

PETALING JAYA: DRB-Hicom and Proton Holdings will award a Perdana 2.0 car to an Olympic gold medalist, Suprima S to a silver and Iriz to the bronze winner.

"DRB-Hicom and Proton wishes all the best to all our competing Olympians in the Rio Olympics," the companies said in a statement on Friday.

Malaysia has won medals in three events so far at the Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Divers Pandelela Rinong and Chiong Jun Hoong won silver in the 10m platform syncro, cyclist Azizulhasni Awang took bronze in the keirin event while badminton mixed doubles pair of Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying came in for silver.

A silver is assured for the badminton men’s doubles pair of Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong who will take on a Chinese pair in the final tonight.

Datuk Lee Chong Wei is on the quest for a gold medal in the badminton men’s singles final on Saturday.

He will take on China’s Lin Dan in the semi-final later today.
