PETALING JAYA: They were born on the very day that seven cries of “Merdeka!” by Tunku Abdul Rahman rang out in Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur.

Fifteen of these truly Anak-Anak Malaysia born on that historic Aug 31, 1957, when Tunku, Malaysia’s first prime minister, declared the country’s independence from British rule will join the inaugural walk in the run-up to Hari Merdeka.
