KUALA LUMPUR: Police officers can still choose between Teams Mystic, Valor and Instinct should virtual-reality game Pokemon Go make its way into Malaysia.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police have no plans to disallow its members from playing Pokemon Go if the game is introduced in the country.
“The game hasn’t entered the country yet, has it?
“So far, we have no reasons to ban the game unless it has elements of gambling or is a threat to safety,” he told reporters at Pulapol here on Thursday.
Khalid was responding to a question whether Malaysia would be following Indonesia’s move in banning its police and military officers from playing Pokemon Go.
It was reported that the ban came after a Frenchman was arrested for entering a military base in the West Java town of Cirebon while hunting for Pokemons.
