JOHOR BARU: Three Singaporeans’ plan to smuggle cigarettes went up in smoke at the border checkpoint here when their car suddenly caught fire.

What was supposed to be a routine inspection and security clearance at the Bangunan Sultan Iskan­dar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex turned into a fire alarm followed by the illegal find.
