A record dome-shaped ‘putu mayam’

Record breaker: iMcom secretary Mohamed Yazid Mohamed Ekebal (left) and committee member Mohd Azalan Shah holding the MBR certificate while surrounded by other committee members at Masjid Kapitan Keling Penang.

GEORGE TOWN: It was a hat-trick for Masjid Kapitan Keling, which set another record in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for making the longest putu mayam (string hoppers).

The putu mayam were laid out in the shape of the heritage mosque’s dome by 15 members of the Indian Muslim Community Malaysia (iMcom), measuring 9.2m in length and 9.6m in width.
