JOHOR BARU: The bodies of two men were found in the sea in separate locations, in Pontian and Iskandar Putri in Johor.

The body of lorry driver Esa Muhammad, 45, who had gone fishing alone in Pontian waters on Friday afternoon, was discovered by a fisherman at 9.15am yesterday.

It was floating in Pantai Rimba Terjun, some 500m from the beach, and there were wounds on the back of the head believed to have been caused by a boat’s propeller.

Pontian OCPD Supt Zakaria Abdul Rahman said the victim, a part-time fisherman, had fallen while fishing in Tukun Parit Semerah.

In the other incident, the body of an unidentified man was found in Sungai Tiram Duku yesterday.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Supt Noor Hashim Mohamed said the body was too badly decomposed.

“There were no identification documents on him. We believe he has been dead for a few days,” he said.

He said fingerprints have been taken to try to identify the victim and that the case has been classified as sudden death.
