Mael’s romance novel scoops top prize at prestigious literary awards

KUALA LUMPUR: When Sonia Mael wrote her novel Don’t Forget To Remember, she believed it would mainly be enjoyed by older readers. After all, the book was about two students falling in love in Australia and Malaya in the 1960s.

But a teenager also liked it – Mael’s 19-year-old granddaughter gave the book a thumbs up. And yesterday, the book’s cross-generational appeal became evident after it won first prize in the fiction category of this year’s Popular-The Star Readers’ Choice Awards (RCA).
