PETALING JAYA: Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar paid tribute to fathers for their sacrifice and diligence in his Father’s Day message.
Writing on Facebook yesterday, the Johor Sultan spoke about how fathers worked hard to provide for their families.
“Being a proud father myself, I know fatherhood is the most important role we will ever play, for our children look to us for a role model, and how they shape their lives is often a reflection of us,” he said in his post.
Sultan Ibrahim also urged fathers to always be there for their children.
“May you always set a good example for your children, and be there for them when it matters,” he wrote, wishing all fathers a very Happy Father’s Day.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said every child looked up to their fathers.
He said fathers were often heroes and role models, as well as, an inspiration to their children.
“My father certainly was for me. Happy Father’s Day!” Najib tweeted.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai also sent out a special Father’s Day message.
“To all dads, thank you for being strong pillars of your families, communities and nation. Happy Father’s Day!,” he tweeted.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who is a father of two children, said a father’s love for his children was as important as the mother’s.
“Often, I do not express my feelings of love and concern. I believe many fathers are like that as well,” he posted on Facebook.
He urged children to show their love for the fathers.
“Be it a simple meal or a greeting card. Both can be equally warm gestures.
“As for those who are unable to return home to spend time with their fathers, a phone call can also express your appreciation for him.”
