JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar is expected to be discharged today after he was admitted to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for a mild viral infection and gastritis.

It is learnt that the Sultan, accompanied by his consort Johor Permaisuri Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, was recovering although he remained slightly tired. He is expected to be discharged in the afternoon.

Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who visited the ruler on Friday, said that he was doing well.

“There is nothing to be worried. Maybe he fell ill due to the uncertain weather conditions in the past few days where it affected his health following his visits to several Ramadan bazaars and meet-the-rakyat sessions,” he told reporters at Kampung Kuala Masai here yesterday.

According to Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, he visited three Ramadan bazaars between June 6 and 8, including the bazaar located at Jalan Padi Mahsuri in Bandar Baru Uda here (June 6), Kampung Pasir in Johor Baru (June 7) and the one in Taman Yayasan in Segamat (June 8) before being admitted.

Sultan Ibrahim was reportedly admitted to the hospital following advice given by his doctors on Friday.
