Don: Excessive heat may have led to hailstorm


PETALING JAYA: Excessive heat from the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect in the Klang Valley may have contributed to Friday’s hailstorm.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Climatology and Oceanography ex­­pert Prof Dr Fredolin Tangang said UHIs were formed as cities tend to absorb heat more and warm up faster than surrounding areas.
