PETALING JAYA: Severe turbulence during Malaysia Airlines Flight MH1 from London to Kuala Lumpur caused some passengers and crew to suffer minor injuries.
A MAS statement said the plane met air turbulence over the Bay of Bengal during its flight from Heathrow earlier yesterday.
“During the flight, the passenger seatbelt light was turned on due to air turbulence,” added the statement.
However despite the seatbelt sign, a brief moment of severe turbulence caused about 30 passengers and crew to suffer minor injuries.
MAS said a medical team and MAS senior management met the aircraft on arrival at KL International Airport when it landed around 6.10pm yesterday.
“MAS sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused by this weather event which was entirely beyond our control,” said the airline.
