KOTA KINABALU: Police in the interior Keningau district are investigating how a teacher’s house became an illegal cyber gambling centre.

Police uncovered the activities in Kampung Jaya Baru, about 3km from Keningau town, during a raid at about 9.30pm on May 27.

Keningau OCPD Deputy Supt Douglas Nyeging Taong said nine people, including the newly employed caretaker of the premises, were arrested during the raid.
He said the teacher, who owned the house, was away from the district during the raid.

“We know his identity and we will be questioning him,” DSP Douglas added.

He said the caretaker had just been employed for three weeks.

Police seized eight laptop computers and accessories, a modem and cash totalling RM1,243.

DSP Douglas said initial investigations showed that the cyber gambling centre operated between 7pm and midnight.
